Unfortunately, involving anybody else in it would be outside the purview of a simple spell. All I'd probably allow in simple spell would be the blood powering the machine itself to perform whatever automatic function it's built to do (ie a windup toy that walks in a straight line, or a watch that doesn't need winding). Taking verbal commands AND powering the item seems outside of what simple represents.
