This means that his form will take on the appearance of shadow itself, and will blend into natural darkness easily - however, if someone shines a light on him while the pendant is activated, he will stick out a sore thumb and, depending on the strength of the light, the charm will be dispelled for at least ten minutes before he can activate the pendant again. However, when travelling in shadow and darkness, the enchantment can last indefinitely.
The stone turns black when the enchantment is active, but will have a notable rainbow sheen when inactive.
